Healthy North Coast

Clinical Councils

NCPHN has three Clinical Councils that meet bi-monthly and are governed by the NCPHN Board.

The Clinical Councils are GP-led and include representation from a wide range of health disciplines.

The role of the Clinical Councils is provide advice on:

  • Improving patient outcomes and experience
  • Primary health care professional and business support needs
  • Development and monitoring of integrated care pathways
  • Quality Improvement
  • Service gaps, local and regional priorities and investment strategies
  • NCPHN direction, strategy and program design

All Clinical Councils receive high levels of attendance at each meeting with video conferencing available to support the attendance of clinicians working and living in rural and remote locations. Issues of interest for Clinical Councils have included NCPHN’s general practice support, communications, learning and development, coordination and integration with Local Health District services and clinical areas of focus. Pain management, end-of-life care and safe medication management are clinical issues that have been addressed at recent meetings.

Communication with the NCPHN Board is well supported. The Board has a standing Clinical Council agenda item where Clinical Council matters are discussed via direct Chair reports and through written communiques.
