Behaviour Change Agent

The Behaviour Change Agent program is a one-day course that will equip medical and allied health providers and staff in achieving more effective communication and enhanced client outcomes. It is an interactive, evidence-based and skills focused program.

Patients and clients often know that they should be exercising more or eating less, or drinking less alcohol. They don’t often know how to engage in the process of sustained health behaviour change that will make a difference to their underlying health.

Health coaching is the “tie that binds” the pillars of lifestyle medicine – nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, social support, tobacco avoidance and alcohol moderation. The use of health coaching improves patient outcomes, saves cost and can be used across all stages of health care – from prevention through management and reversal of chronic disease.

Participants will learn the basis of health coaching skills which are used to assist clients to develop a vision for their own health and set reachable goals for behaviour change.
