Gestalt Therapy

Harbour Therapy Clinic invites you to participate in a monthly professional practice series. Each month (on a Saturday) Harbour Therapy Clinic will be hosting an event where local professional mental health practitioners will present and demonstrate their chosen therapeutic modality.

The third session in this series will be presented by Urja Refalo, clinical director of New Pathways Counselling and Support, and a private practitioner at Harbour Therapy Clinic.

This session will focus on Gestalt therapy, a holistic, experiential and relational way of working with clients. The objective of Gestalt therapy is to enable people to live a flexible and creative life free from patterns of ‘fixed’ behaviour that can reduce self-growth and a sense of satisfaction in their lives.

“Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them.” – Albert Einstein

The foundation of Gestalt therapy is awareness. In Gestalt therapy clients are supported to raise their awareness about how they are living their life, ‘who they are’ in relation to others and the choices they are making. In being more aware, Gestalt therapy can help people to make a more positive and meaningful future, as well as build a richer personal world with relationships that are fulfilling.
