Hepatitis B Nursing: Preventing Liver Cancer in Primary Care

This course is aimed at increasing the knowledge of primary care nurses with limited experience in caring for patients with, or at risk of, chronic hepatitis B.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Outline the epidemiology of hepatitis B and the risk factors for hepatitis B transmission .
  • Describe the natural history of hepatitis B and demonstrate confidence in interpreting hepatitis B serology to identify opportunities for screening, vaccination and linkage to care .
  • Explain the nurse’s role in identifying, assessing and monitoring patients with chronic hepatitis B to initiate practice change and review improvement of surveillance programmes.
