COVID-19 Update

Testing requirements

Local emergency departments are reporting increased demand due to COVID-19 testing requests.

General practices are encouraged to:

  • Collect specimens at the practice if the practice is equipped from an infection control perspective and the GP feels comfortable collecting the specimen.
  • Send patients who fulfil the case definition to dedicated testing collection centres listed here, with prior notification to the centre.
  • Only send patients to emergency departments if neither of the above options are available, and/or the patient has significant illness, with prior notification to the FACEM on call.

Pandemic Respiratory Illness

The Pandemic Respiratory Illness HealthPathway has been localised.

More information is available here.

P2 and surgical mask update

Free P2 masks are available for distribution to GPs who wish to collect specimens at the practice.

Free surgical masks are also available for distribution to GPs and pharmacists.
